Welcome to the JMSB French Coach!

French Coach offers subsidized introductory and business French courses for JMSB students and alumni. Classes for Winter 2010 begin Saturday, January 23rd, last for 8 weeks, and cost just $65. Three levels are offered this semester:

In the great city of Montreal, students have access to a myriad of services designed to provide a basis for acquiring the fundamentals of the French language. However, what students previously lacked at JMSB was a space to adapt and improve their language skills in a professional environment. Le Coach looks to fill this gap as a professional development program to complement the JMSB undergraduate and graduate curriculum and Career Management Services.

Language coaching classes, our core program, utilize business materials and industry jargon to engage students in conversation to improve their communication skills at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Classes are taught in French by qualified instructors from Concordia’s Department of French Studies, and discuss current business trends, nuts and bolts of working in French (presentations, emailing, informal meetings, on-the-phone) and job seeking techniques (networking, interviewing).

The instructors infuse vocabulary and grammar lessons into the class, but the focus is on the practice of communication. Each class uses current events, news and magazine articles, hone formal presentation skills through PowerPoint assignments, and use audio/video/online and multimedia tools to interact with the language in many different ways.
